Bangladesh, 'Basket Case' No More - The Wall Street Journal

I am glad to see the western media is finally focusing on the positive Bangladesh. We have come a long way in a very short time. First the tremendous growth in the garment sector in last 20 hours. Now with the new digital Bangladesh initiative by current Awami League govt, Bangladesh NEXT, we are preparing ourself for the next generation IT outsourcing destination. This is a good news for us, this is good news for 171 million Bangladeshis.

"Bangladesh has much to be proud of. Its economy has grown at nearly 6% a year over the past three years. The country exported $12.3 billion worth of garments last year, making it fourth in the world behind China, the EU and Turkey. Against the odds, Bangladesh has curbed population growth. Today the average Bangladeshi woman bears fewer than three children in her lifetime, down from more than six in the 1970s."
